Children's & Family Ministry

Minister to Children & Families: Mitch Casson

Our purpose in the Children’s and Family Ministry is to partner with families to pass on a spiritual legacy to the children of this generation (Deuteronomy 6:4-9) and create in our children a love and passion for the Lord.

We offer God-centered, child-friendly teaching and activities including Life Groups (9:30 am Sunday), MCBC Kids, Family Fun Nights, Vacation Bible School, RA’s, GA’s, Camp Cedarmore and special events.

Preschool Life Groups are located on the first floor next to the nursery area. The preschool children must be signed in by their parents or guardians. Music is incorporated into the morning lesson.

*Elementary LifeGroups (Grades 1-6) are located on the second floor.

Please see the CALENDAR page for additional church events.

Here are some comments from the Family Retreat at Potter's Ranch on Sept.18-20, 2020:

The Family Retreat at Potter's Ranch was sponsored by the MC Children's Department. It is a yearly activity that both children and adults look forward to! This year we had to cancel all of our Kids' camps, Vacation Bible School and most of our church activities. This is one thing that we were able to do for families this calendar year and it was a great opportunity to pour into our parents and young people.

The weekend was designed to help equip families to better disciple their own children, raise them in a Godly home and equip them for life after graduation. This year Chuck and Jen Breen led the kids in a Bible Study while I led the large group Bible Study for the adults.

We also scheduled many outdoor activities for everyone, including fishing and ziplining. I believe that everyone left more spiritually fulfilled than when they arrived and had a life-changing time in the process.

Family retreat was wonderful for our kiddos and us! Getting to spend time with our church family and having our kiddos spend time together was good for our souls. Anytime we have the chance to spend time with our family and study God's word it is welcomed. It also helps that the kids play and try new things and are completely worn out by the time they get back home!

I think the best way that I can describe the weekend is: worshipping our God through fellowship and belly laughs.
Honestly, this year has been difficult. We spent months away from our loved ones, everything was closed, and there was just so much uncertainty. So getting to spend time with friends and friends who have become family was a breath of fresh air.

I saw my kids laughing, and not just small laughs; throw their heads back and cackle like they had no other worries or problems in that moment. It made my mama-heart happy.
And for me, spending time with my adult friends; socializing and laughing and just... being with each other in person. We dug into God's word and worshipped through singing and praying. It was truly balm for my soul.
So, thanks for the laughs and the memories! We are already looking forward to next year.

Family Retreat weekend is always a weekend we look forward to! Getting to spend time with our church family fills my spiritual cup up in so many ways. As a parent, I love that my kids are building relationships with other Christian kiddos and Retreat weekend really fosters those relationships without the distractions.

We got to see our boys playing, laughing and singing with so many kids their ages. And I know they made so many memories that will last a lifetime.

Also, Retreat weekend allows my husband and I to really take a step back and look at how we are raising our boys. We have time to talk about what we want to work on inside of our four walls and how we want to lead our family. We got to pray together and have some good conversations with other parents who are going through the same life situations that we are.

Finally, life is so busy for everyone; there are distractions everywhere. But Family Retreat is a time when we can unplug from life and be fully present with our family and friends to make so many awesome memories. We can't wait to get back next year… and every year after that!
