Abundant Blessings Through Prayer

Prayer is powerful. We’ve all heard this time and time again, but sometimes I feel like prayer is put on the back burner, or not given much thought. We serve a God that is all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present. On top of that, we have 24/7 access to this all-powerful, all-knowing, and everywhere present God through prayer. What does this mean for us? We can talk to the creator of the universe whenever we want. We can seek His comfort, peace, and perfect love no matter where we are. So why then do we say things like, “All we can do is pray”? Prayer shouldn’t be our last option; prayer should be our first line of defense as followers of God! Think about it. Jesus reminds us, “Take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). Jesus has already won the ultimate battle for us and all we must do is live as conquerors and pray that our desires align with His will. After all, we all know His will is going to be done whether we like it or not. So, we might as well get on board now!

A couple years ago I started praying that I may be able to show God’s immeasurable and unconditional love to everyone I encountered. I felt that I was growing more and more judgmental and impatient towards those around me, and I knew I was not following God’s will by bearing bad fruit. I thought praying this prayer would simply take away my negative feelings toward others, but God went above and beyond what I thought I was asking for. Since I started praying that I may show God’s love, I’ve noticed that I’ve become more outgoing than ever before, my fear of meeting new people is slowly vanishing, and I now love building relationships with anyone I can. I have a clearer picture of God’s purpose for my life, and I can see my desires glorifying God instead of lining up with my earthly wants. God gave me the ability to love more like Him but did so in a way I never would have thought of when I originally started praying. Thank Jesus we have a God who listens to our prayers and provides more than we think we need! Glory to God for answering prayers according to His will!
