ABOUT US
MISSION STATEMENT
Mt Carmel Preschool & Daycare is a ministry of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, whose purpose is to provide a Christian environment where children can grow spiritually, intellectually, physically, emotionally, and socially. We provide opportunities which enables each child to have an awareness of God from people, things and experiences that are a part of their world. A love and appreciation of God, Christ, Jesus and His creation are stressed through appropriate activities.
OUR PROGRAM
Mt Carmel Preschool & Daycare was founded in August 1970. We provides a program of learning experiences for children eighteen months through five years and child care for kindergarten age children. A school age program is offered during the summer months.
We are governed by a church appointed committee and administered by the Director, who reports the Pastor of Families and Outreach Ministries. Each member of the teaching staff receives a minimum of fifteen hours of training and enrichment annually. The staff is trained and certified in CPR, first aid, communicable diseases and child abuse recognition. Above all, our staff members are Christians and strive to show God’s love to every child.
PHILOSOPHY
We believe that every child has the capacity to learn, and only with the assistance of a good foundation, can every child truly reach their potential. We provide a foundation geared around the idea that children need a safe, nurturing, healthy environment that will stimulate and encourage positive growth and development. To fully succeed in aiding in a child’s successful development, both the school and home must work together to build a strong and healthy relationship and agree on what is best for the child.

Melissa started working at Mt. Carmel Preschool & Daycare mentoring under founder Myrtle Traughber. She has been at Mt Carmel for 25 years as a teacher and assistant director before becoming the Director in 2019.
Melissa graduated from Mount St. Joseph University of Cincinnati, Ohio in 2016 with her Bachelors in Social Work and went on to receive her Masters in Special Education at Ashford University in 2018.
A native of Cincinnati, Melissa enjoys reading and spending time with her son Quentin. Melissa loves to dance, especially for her church praise and worship dance ensemble.
